reduced fruit

 I got the idea to made some ice cream this week. I asked my husband which flavor he wanted: berry or chocolate. Berry was the resounding answer because they are in season. I don't just throw berries in my ice cream batch, I actually reduce them. 
This creates an intense flavor and I can strain out the skins and seeds thus getting rid of any pesky chunks. (can you tell I don't like chunky ice cream, unless of course it is chocolate.) This reduction process makes my entire house smell like jam and the color is quite beautiful.
